Sometimes I can't resist, and what better time than when faced with Cabot's "explanation" for why the Sautner home was torn down? :-)

Mary Sweeneyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08878546420428414773noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6949864949316311883.post-87035647609262384502013-09-13T15:23:58.377-07:002013-09-13T15:23:58.377-07:00Vera -- Thanks for the shooting the video. And yes, Cabot now owns the 1101 Carter Rd. property, although, as Bill points out, Cabot aquired it through a company called Susquehanna Real Estate Corp 1. This was part of the settlement. Thank you and Bill for your attention to detail. Some corrections: Sautners moved to Tioga Co., NY in Berkshire. And the new owner is still Cabot ! Cabot's name was on the demolition permit placed in the front of the property near the road, which I videotaped. It took about two days to demolish the whole house and garage. The third day , they filled in the hole and covered it with burlap and I suppose grass seed. Thankfully, the DEP still has a ban on Cabot to not drill in the 9 sq.mile area, which has been in effect almost 3 years. And that is because there is still too much methane in water wells in that area. Demolishing this house, famous in the anti-frack movement and regularly shown in my Citizen Gas Tours, shows Cabot in a further negative light or should I say, darkness. More of the truth , which Cabot works hard at hiding will come forth with time. A little surprising.

So assuming sarcasm... thanks for validating my hunch that something seems seriously wrong with this whole matter.

The one thing that Tom didn't mention in his very thorough article above* is that Cabot didn't actually purchase the Sautner home. The home was purchased by "Susquehanna Real Estate 1 Corp", which just happens to share its mailing address with Cabot.

(* not complaining! As a writer myself, I know every story has an "event boundary", or else it never gets completed...)

Cabot never actually admitted they purchased the house until Tom asked George Stark about the demolition.

So the big picture I'm left with is this: Cabot, though their PR bullies, spies, hit-men, and propagandists at Energy in Depth, have set up Fake Astroturf groups ("Dimock Proud", "Franklin Citizens for Truth", and my personal favorite, "Brooklyn Township Teamwork for Marcellus Future"), they have attacked the Sautners viciously in blog postings and in videos, they've bought TV commercials and newspaper adverts all claiming that "the water in Dimock is fine!"...

Meanwhile, Cabot:
* Denies the facts that DEP DID declare their water was unsafe (as Tom pointed out here)
* Purchase the Sautner's home using an anonymous LLC,
* Purchase $38,000 water treatment systems for 19 families (which often don't work),
* Let 1101 Carter Rd sit empty for a year, then
* Tear it down. A perfectly good house!

The latter list does not seem to jive 100% with the story "the water in Dimock is fine"...

Bill Huston 1https://www.blogger.com/profile/15288627254805985954noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6949864949316311883.post-38365519462995028612013-09-13T14:05:19.843-07:002013-09-13T14:05:19.843-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.Bill Huston 1https://www.blogger.com/profile/15288627254805985954noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6949864949316311883.post-2893075745072021722013-09-13T10:22:22.714-07:002013-09-13T10:22:22.714-07:00Gee, Bill, I don't think any part of this is a...Gee, Bill, I don't think any part of this is at all weird. For example, it's a well-known fact that most lots are "more marketable without the house"--that's why most people who want to sell their homes tear them down and then just sell the lot. I am happy to see that you, a respected member of the working press, see the importance of this event.

The photo of the Cat, "Keep Out" sign, "Dimock Proud" and demolished home is a real classic.

Thanks for also mentioning the problems with the Costello well. Several of us have been calling local media to report about this for many months trying to get attention about this.

Seems a bit weird that Cabot has a buyer for the property, but never marketed it in a year. But as always, they come up with some cover story to make the absurd seem rational.

But there are so many weird things about the Dimock story, "weird" seems to be becoming part of the New Normal, along with toxic spills, compressor station explosions, gas flaring, and fish kills.

Bill Huston 1https://www.blogger.com/profile/15288627254805985954noreply@blogger.com
